Fire Puja - July 6, 2002

The resident monks at the Tibetan Cultural Center (TCC), will perform a fire puja on the grounds of the TCC on Saturday, July 6, 2002 at 9 a.m. This ceremony will celebrate the 67th birthday of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet

A fire puja is a Buddhist ritual that purifies the environment, bestows blessings on the participants, and promotes world peace and harmony. In addition, this particular puja asks that His Holiness enjoy a long life and be guarded from all negativities and obstacles in his pursuit for world peace and in his efforts to obtain justice for the Tibetan people.

Following is a short, traditional prayer for the Long Life of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet:

In the heavenly realm of Tibet
(Surrounded by a chain of snow mountains)
The source of all happiness and health for beings
Is Tenzin Gyatso, Chenrezig in person
May his life be secure for hundred of kalpas!
