Children’s Activities at TMBCC

 

 Summer Camps at the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center

In keeping with our mission to help preserve both the Tibetan and Mongolian cultures, the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center facilitates Summer Camps for the children of Tibetan and Mongolian refugees who are now living in the United States.

Camp Objectives

  • To expose Mongolian and Tibetan youngsters to their culture and language, and also to the essence of Buddhism.
  • To bring Mongolian and Tibetan youngsters closer to the values of Mongolian/Tibetan culture and to create in them a sense of belonging
  • To create an environment for Mongolian and Tibetan youngsters from different parts of North America to develop friendship among them and widen their network
  • To create conditions for Mongolian and Tibetan youngsters to develop a sense of pride in their Mongolian/Tibetan identity

Information about 2013 camps will be posted after the first of the year.

Important Information

Summer Camp Code of Ethics: The Tibetan Cultural Center enforces a Code of Ethics that all Campers are required to know and heed.

Packing List: It will be necessary for you to bring some items to the Summer Camps. This list informs you about the things you need to pack and take to Bloomington (and what not to take).

2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 Mongolian Camps

Mongolian Summer Camps:  The Mongolian Culture Center in Washington, D.C. is organized these camps for young Mongolians. Contacts for this camp are Naraa at saraanaa@yahoo.com or Saruul at saruul7@yahoo.com. During the camp there was a one-day childrens cultural awareness day for local children to learn about Mongolian culture and  participate in activities together with the Mongolian children. 

2006 and 2007 Tibetan Camps

Tibetan Senior Summer Camp: The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center (TMBCC) based in Bloomington, Indiana, in collaboration with the Office of Tibet (New York), organized a summer camp for high-school-age Tibetan children from July 30 through August 8, 2007

2006 Camp

2006 Cultural Immersion Camp: From July 21 to July 30, 2006, we hosted 23 children from Tibetan families. The children came from California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC. The camp’s daily activities were organized by the Office of Tibet in New York City, while the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center provided lodging, food, transportation in Bloomington, and recreational opportunities for the campers.
